Business/IT Fusion.
How to transform IT in your organization. Peter Hinssen.
Lecturer, entrepreneur and writer Peter Hinssen ranks as a visionary in the field of technology. His book “Business/IT Fusion. How to transform IT in your organization” (2008), we’d like to introduce to you, is one of management bestsellers in Belgium and the Netherlands.

“Business/IT Fusion” is not describing “IT as we know it”. Hinssen is showing how the “new IT” can be. He critizes the lack of confidence as well as the relationship between business and IT in most companies. For this reason Hinssen is introducing his idea for a better integration of IT into business. The book addresses IT and business people, who want to know more about the relation between business and IT as well as the new role of information technology:
"The IT manager [...], the 'toughest Nerd of the pack', [...] with the biggest engine and the blondest blond [...]" must have a total rethink and focus on technology-enabled innovation to maximize IT's value.
The “building blocks” of IT departments have changed: At the beginning they used to be technological components, such as servers, routers or software. Now these components have been replaced by organizational processes. According to Hinssen, companies need “New kids on the block” in order to survive – “broad-thinking business thinkers in the CIO’s seat”.
“Business/IT Fusion” is intended to be a source of inspiration for the next generation, Hinssen is referring to as “IT 2.0″: IT departments should “evolve from an executory technology function towards a proactive strategic innovation function”.
