First we’d like to say a few words about the author:
Scott Berkun grew up in Queens NYC and studied computer science, philosophy and design at Carnegie Mellon University. In 1994 he has started working for Microsoft as an Usability Engineer on Microsoft Office, Visual Basic and other products. On year later Berkun became a Program Manager on the Internet Explorer project. After version 5.0 he started working as Lead Program Manager on the Windows and MSN development teams. Scott Berkun also worked in Microsoft’s Engineering Excellence Group. He left Microsoft in 2003.
Speicher 210 supports Norwegian Power Exchange
Monday, August 17th, 2009Michael Wolf is visiting Norway to support the Oslo-based Nord Pool Spot AS in a project with the European Market Coupling Company GmbH as well as other IT related projects and questions.
The power exchange Nord Pool Spot organizes the physical trade of electricity, the Spot Market Elspot in the Nordic countries and the intra day market Elbas in Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Thus Nord Pool Spot is providing a power trade platform for distributors, producers, industrial companies and TSO (Transmission System Operators).
21 % for Tec Diving
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009The Speicher 210 team is spending 21 % of its time on things it is passionated about. Hanz Geeratz attended courses for Technical Diving during his holidays. Thereupon he created for Tekstreme-redsea as well as for Rebreather, two facilities offering technical diving and rebreather courses, websites within his 21 % time.
Technical diving, also known as Tec Diving, is a kind of scuba diving. Tec divers are doing extreme sports, although some of them say it’s a hobby and recreational. Among specialized equipment technical diving requires advanced and permanent training, extensive experience and expertise, because it makes high demands on technical divers.

The American author of The 4-Hour Work Week Timothy Ferriss explains how you cut a D E A L with yourself to gain more time – including spare time – and how to use it more efficiently, according to the author’s theory, with just a few steps:
Try to find things or activities that are unnecessarily causing a loss of your (spare) time and leave them behind, Step 2 – we think you better read the book yourself, because it’s not our intention to tell you too much.
We assume that you find a straight tip and approaches, too. By the way: Timothy Ferriss gives also advice regarding common mistakes of the “New Rich”.

Speicher 210 & the Power Market

In July Michael Wolf attended the EEX Spot Market Training Course in Leipzig/ Germany. On July 21st, 2009 he took and – now it is official: successfully – passed the examination.
Now Speicher 210 has specialized knowledge of the Power Market, especially in the Energy Stock Exchange, and knows interrelations as well as processes very well. Hence Speicher 210 has the ability to support and to consult its clients of the energy industry exceedingly.

Thursday, August 6th, 2009The European Energy Exchange AG is offering training courses in trading on the Spot Market as well as Derivatives Market. A few days ago Michael Wolf attended an EEX Spot Market course in Leipzig, Germany. Among the presentation and introduction of Xetra®, an electronic trading system of EEX, the focal points of the training course were on processes of stock exchange trading – particularly to the power market – and the OTC Clearing of Spot Transactions at EEX.
Coming soon: New home for Seyfried & Ziska
Monday, August 3rd, 2009In 1990 the comic-strip artist, caricaturist and author Seyfried has met Ziska, a 17-year old scenarist and comic-strip artist. Since that time they have been an exceptional and exclusive author team. The publishing house Zweitausendeins entrusted the project management of Seyfried & Ziska’s web presentation to Speicher 210’s safekeeping.
First of all we’ve asked the client for his wishes and expectations concerning his new home in the www. We’ve invited offers for web design as well as programming and here we go… Speicher 210 is supervising the entire implementation in cooperation with the web agency 4morgen. The freelance designer Jutta Häuser climbed back on board, too.
Our job is not finished yet… The final testing and the commissioning need to be done… But we are almost there! In a few days Seyfried & Ziska will move into their new home and we hope that they will feel good there for a very long time.
